This is an online handbook on how to accept your stuttering
Written for stutterers by stutterers!
It is a collaboration using a wiki.
(Here's a video)
This collaboration will be open to the public soon.
For now, I've invited a few friends to test things out.
So how do you come to accept your stuttering?
It ain't easy and it can be a long process.
And totally worth it!
Look at the alternitive, once you accept yourself life is way more fun. Hiding from life can get pretty boring.
1. Stuttering is not a curse
The very first step in acceptance is to, well, accept that you stutter. You will have to forgive those who give you weird looks because they completely misunderstand stuttering.
2. Always do something out of your comfort zone
That "something" can be anything from ordering a coffee and stuttering, stuttering on purpose while ordering a coffee, attending a conference by yourself, etc.
This "something" doesn't have to be big. It can be small like stuttering openly in front of a close friend. The next day you can try something a little bigger like, voluntary stuttering on 1 word in front of a sales clerk.
Baby steps is the key.
3. Meet other stutterers
This way, you will feel less alone in your stuttering. You won't feel like you're the only stutterer on Earth! You'll also learn from each other and have an awesome time sharing what you always thought were experiences (and tricks) unique to you.
4. Think of ways to disclose your stutter (when you're comfortable)

That's it?!
Nope. This is a work in progress. It will take some time for fellow stutterers to share their experiences in growing to accept their stuttering. Bookmark this site. Contact me, @stutterdude, on Twitter if you want to participate.
